Problem with installing Non-standard Block in 1.7

Hi all, I'm new to Moodle 1.7 and having a heck of a time installing non-standard blocks: Certificates and Questionare. I have followed the instructions contained on the Moodle sites and have read all of your conversations, but had no luck. Here’s what I did: I uploaded the .zip file in the public_html/blocks directory. Then I extracted the .zip file and it put a certificates folder containing all the files in the blocks directory. At that point when I logged into Moodle as the administrator and select Modules/Blocks, nothing happended.  I know a lot of folks have had this issue and I'm wondering if it's particular to 1.7.  I say that because I have also tried to change some of the logos in the themes and they don't display.  Am I getting to the right admin area?  In 1.7, I don't see a configuration area.  It only says Admin.

After about 4 days of trying, still no luck.  I've unziped the file in mod and in blocks, and they are not loading.  What am I doing wrong?  The folks that host my site want to charge me $50.00 to load modules and blocks but I refuse to pay for something that should be a no-brainer.  Can someone please help!!

Thanks.

Hi,

Certificate and Questionare are activity modules, not blocks. They need to copy to mod folder.

And then go to admin folder, NOT admin/blocks or admin/modules, to install them.

Thanks for your patience Ari.  I did eventually put them in the mod folder but now I'm confused about what to do when I am in the admin folder.  Are you talking about the admin folder in public_html?  See below:

Thanks again for your patience.

Hi Ron,

just login to your site and select from Site Administration menu the first link
Notifications and module tables will be installed. Settings of those modules are in Administration -> Modules -> Activities

You may have some difficulties with that questionaire in moodle 1.7 so check discussions of that module first.

It worked - Thank You.  Above everyone else including all the forums I've been too, you explained it in a very understandable way.  Thanks again!
