I'd like to verify whether we can use Workshop for students to peer review each other's drafts, then submit a revised (final) version for the teacher to grade and give feedback. The sequence would be something like this:
- Students submit draft essays.
- Students assess each other's drafts.
- Students read peer assessments and produce final essays.
- Teacher assesses student final essays.
- Students receive grade based on peer and teacher assessments as in regular Workshop module.
If you have successfully (or unsuccessfully!) attempted the above, please let me know how you set the submission/assessment timings. It seems that the "Allow Resubmissions" flag would support this, but apparently these resubmissions would also be routed for peer review, so one would presumably need to impose a deadline on peer assessments prior to the Workshop "End of assessments" deadline (which must be ≥ the "End of submissions" deadline that constrains when students can submit final essays). Then the teacher alone would do assessments on final essays, even if these are also routed to students.
PS -- I've done a quick test and it may be the timing of my cron jobs versus submission/assessment deadlines, but are peer assessments returned to each student as soon as the assessment is submitted or after the assessment period has closed?
