In a course I backed up from a different moodle site, and then restored on my current moodle site, I imported the forums without the user data.
The forums show up, and the settings are correct (i.e. discussions and replies are allowed.) But only I as the teacher can add a discuusion topic). Students can reply to discussions I start. And if I do a new forum from scratch, then they can start discussions and reply, with the exact same settings as on the "restored" forums.
Why might be going on with the restored forums, and is there a way to fix it?
