I am running 1.5.4 and am having problems with the email validation when people set up accounts. When a person sets up an account and clicks on submit... the next page that comes up says this:

"Tried to send you an email but failed!"

Any ideas why it is doing this? Please let me know...

I was having the same problem.
Check the e-mail settings under administration - I had mine set to authenticate with a username and passwd for sending e-mails - once I took these out it, it worked fine.
