Hi,
I want to assign a "Course creator" only for single "Course category". I used the default "Course creator" role and assigned it to the site level, this works.
If I do the same on a Course category level, the "Add course" button is not visible. The "Assign roles" button is. Any idea??

you posted with a no reply address, so I answer in the forum.
Yes, we had this issue, and unfortunately nobody answered We struggled for a couple of days with this and did not find a solution. But later versions (at least the 1.7.2 from March ´07) do not show this problem any more! Inbetween we made a couple of test installations without problems. We now create our own profile for course creators, because the legacy role in our eyes has many rights.
