How to reduce the width of resources generated with the HTML-Editor?

My problem comes from trying to reduce the width of resource-material created with the HTML-Editor, which is displayed over the whole width of the page when viewed.

Looking at the source of an generated page, I found that the content is put into a table of the class "generalbox", into a cell with class "generalboxcontent".

I am trying right know to change this class by editing the .generalbox entry in the styles.php, but it seems I get no solution there. I put in padding-left and padding-right into .generalbox, but nothing happens.

Does anyone have a suggestion how to solve that problem?

Thomas,

My solution was to create the resource using an external editor (FrontPage, Dreamweaver etc.) and tables for positioning, then pasting everything into the Moodle HTML editor.  You can see an example of this by logging into the Teacher Demonstration site at http://remote-Learner.net/hsonline.  Assignment #2: WebQuest example illustrates the fix.
