CVS Access Problems

CVS Access Problems

I have done everything I can think of to access the CVS via Linux and keep getting login errors such as:

cvs [login aborted]: connect to moodle.cvs.sourceforge.net(66.35.250.87):2401 failed: Connection timed out

Anyone have a clue? I'm using the instructions posted in the forum.

Sourceforge CVS is not 100% reliable, so in this situation the first thing to try is to wait for an hour or so and see if the problem fixes itself.

Heather P just clued me in that it might be my firewall. I forgot that my server had almost all its ports closed. I opened port 2401 and all is well.

Our network firewall was blocking the inbound stuff when I was failing to get a connection when trying to access CVS. The technical team had to do something to the firewall to allow inside to outside traffic on the port.
Not terribly clear what I'm trying to say, but have a look at your firewall and see if that is doing it.

Thanks for the info. I don't know why I forgot my server had a firewall.
