Hi,
For course teachers you should assign them via the course administration block, not the site administration block, nor the tab on user profile's page. After the correct assignment you can go to the course participants list and see the list of users with the "Teacher" role.
The site admin block takes you to the site context, the tab on user's profile takes you to the user context, what you need is to assign these teachers to the respective course context.
