today, I tried to import a Wiki from one course to another course. The Wiki got referenced in the new course, all settings were imported correctly, but the import ommitted the actual content that I put into the Wiki the day before. Meaning: I got a Wiki activity just like the way it looks like after you add it to a course, but I would like to have the content I added in the other course as well.
Is this a bug, or is this part of the concept (like: You will put up new content into the wiki with new course participants anyway, so why bother with importing with content you are about to delete anyway!)
The sole person who added content to this wiki was me, and I am registered as trainer in both courses.
We run Moodle 1.6.1, and our version of the Wiki module is 2006042801.
Please advise me on how to get the content in a most convenient way from one course into the other.
(Hint: There are only two pages of content within the wiki, so I could just copy and paste them quickly, but if you set up a rather complex wiki, this would be quite a lot of work to do. )
we are working on the backup/ restore thing and soon will release a patch..
Please can you send me (email@example.com) you backup file so we can work out what goes wrong?
I'm relieved to hear a patch is in the works. I am working with a history instructor who has begun an ambitious American History Wiki Project. He would like to copy it from one semester course to another, letting each new group of students add to the existing content.
I've also tried backing up and restoring this wiki into a new course and encountered the same "no-content" issue. I can also send you the backup for this course if it would be helpful. We currently run 1.5.4.
Hello again. I hope the investigation is going well. Quick question - how will I know when the patch is released?
Maximum one week.
Great. Will it be added to the CSV files? And one more question... We are running 1.5.4. Will this patch work with 1.5.4?
Thank you for your patience!
* DFwiki for 1.5.X maintenance only
* N Wiki for 1.6 almost locked up and to be maintained only
* N Wiki for 1.7 still unleashed
My hope is to actually be able to copy a wiki within a course. I have a teacher who wants to basically have the same wiki 3 times in a single course (for 3 different groups of students) who all start with a common skeleton. We were trying to export it and re-import it but ran into the same problem above with importing and exporting.
the problem is not solved till now, the import of wiki module from other cours does not work both for Nwiki and ewiki, I found that the problem is directly in moodle - look at http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=89939 - there is no possibility to import module date - for wiki this means text content.
If I use Backup and I backup only the wiki module - with data and than I use restore from this file with "restore to existing course" - "add modules", everything is fine.
