It's unlikely I can help as I don't actually use the chat in Moodle but if you want someone to help you may want to add a lot more detail to you initial post i.e. what version of Moodle are you running, what are you running it on (linux, windows, hosted, MySQL version, PHP version etc.) what did you do between it working and not working? (e.g. have you just upgraded?).
As it stands, unfortunately, no one can really answer your question or help try and fix the problem.
