Hello Steve,

I am using the latest Moodle (1.6.3+). But we are not using Firefox in our institute, our default browser is IE.

I don't think so. Because when I type φ in the source code and save it without switching to HTML mode, the phi letter shows correctly.

Also, when I type φ, switch to HTML mode and then back to source mode, the φ code becomes replaced with φ letter. In this case it is displayed correctly until I save it.

UPD: But here, at the moodle.org site, the φ letter works correctly. Perhaps, this is charset problem, but I don't understand, where exactly. (our mysql uses unicode)
