I am trying to create a hotpot activity in Moodle 1.63. I had some of the problems reported here with module installation and solved them.
I finally came to the creation page, upoaded file but I am not able to save what I´ve done and move on. There is no <enter> button or so. What may be my mistake? How can it be saved?
well done for installing Moodle 1.6.3.
To get to the "creation page", you selected "Hot Potatoes quiz" from the "Add an Activity" drop-down menu in the section of your Moodle course where you wanted to add the HotPot acitvity, right?
OK, then on the "Adding a Hot Potatoes Quiz" page, you clicked the [Choose or Upload a File ...] button, and got the pop up window showing the course files. You said you already uploaded you Hot Potatoes quiz to there, so please click the "Choose" link next to the Hot Potatoes quiz file that you wish to use.
At this point, the pop-up window will close, and you will return to the "Add a Hot Potatoes Quiz" page. All you need to do now is click the [Save Changes] button and that's it. You have just added your first HotPot activity!
If something else happened, please try to describe how far you got.
Tks for your attention.
The exact problem is "there is no save changes option"...
I believe I some configuration problem. The last box has a very long line as the third option: a lot of "option value = ..."
Dou you have any idea of what is happening?
I think the page is trying to report an error. Let us see if we can find out more.
While looking at the webpage in your browser, please view the "source" of the page. Can you find the word "Error" or "Notice" or "Warning"? If so, please copy and paste the error to this thread.
If you can't immediately see anything strange in the source, please "Save" the source to a text file, e.g. "nosavebutton.txt", and then either email the file to me (gordon at-sign kanazawa hyphen gu dot ac dot jp) or attach the file to your next post to this thread.
Attached nosave.php. Please, note what I wrote in the middle of page code: MY SCREEN ENDS HERE; NOTHING ELSE IS SHOWN. From this point on nothing is shown. All those "option value" from 1 to 6 appear together on the same line.
When I copied the code to Dreamweaver, I could see the page as it should be. I don´t have a clue about what´s happening. I don´t understand anything about programming languages.
I appreciate your help very much.
thanks very much for sending the "nosave.php" file. I opened it up and, thanks to your hint about "MY SCREEN ENDS HERE", was able to locate the source of the problem.
The drop-down menu for Navigation, "navegação", is defined in the HTML source as follows.
<select id="menunavigation" name="navigation" > <option value="1" selected="selected">Barra de navegação do Moodle</option> <option value="2">Frame de navegação do Moodle</option> <option value="3"><IFRAME> embutido</option> <option value="4">Botões da atividade Hot Potatoes</option> <option value="5">Um botão simples "Desistir"</option> <option value="6">Nenhum</option> </select>Notice the <IFRAME> tag. This should appear in the source code as <IFRAME>. However, because it appears as <IFRAME>, the browser gets confused and can't display the page correctly.
To fix it, you need to change the "<IFRAME>" in the "navigation_iframe" string in the hotpot messages file for your language, "pt_br".
In Moodle 1.6, you can edit the hotpot messages file via Moodle:
- login to Moodle as administrator
- if necessary, change Moodle's display language to "pt_br"
- from the site's front page, navigate as follows:
Admin -> Language -> Edit Strings -> hotpot.php
Administrador -> Idioma -> Editar as expressões -> hotpot.php
- locate the "navigation_iframe" string and change the value to the following:
- click the [Save changes: hotpot.php] button
[Salvar mudanças: hotpot.php]
- confirm you get a "Changes saved" message
FYI, I have reported this problem on the Moodle bug tracker: MDL-7186
That´s the special thing about Moodle and Moodlers: you don´t need to be a programming expert - everything runs nice an easy. Specially with so much help and kindness avaiable
All my best
It turns out there were several other language-packs with a similar problem and they have all been fixed, thanks to Koen Roggemans, Moodle's translator-in-chief.
Thank you very much, I had exactly the same problem.
All the best,
