In case you are a language teacher and haven't enrolled yet in the Moodle for Language Teaching course/community, here is the latest news announcement.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Moodle for Language Teaching Members,

Moodle 1.2 Beta was just announced with embedded audio. Go to our site to see and hear a sample multiple choice listening quiz. Much of the discussion to develop this feature was conducted here at Moodle for Language Teaching. Thanks to Tim Grose and Sapporo Gakuin University for providing funding to support efforts on this feature. And of course, without Martin's tireless and good-humored work, this wouldn't have happened.

In case you are not subscribed to the "Speaking Skills" forum, Francoise Blin posted an announcement about integrating "voice boards" into Moodle. She has a grant and is seeking advice on this project. In another topic, she also explains how she uses video clips in her classes for oral presentations.

Tom Robb has announced version 1.2 of a Hot Potatoes module integrating that popular language learning tool into Moodle. This, too, has audio features and tons of content that can now be used in our courses. Until we have a great upload/download site for content, please post useful content for language teaching on our exchange area.

For Asian moodlers, the June JALTCALL conference has its deadline for presentation submissions on March 3rd. Be sure to submit at least one workshop or presentation on your work with Moodle this past year. Incidentally, the conference will be using Moodle for its pre- and post-conference discussions. Finally, check out Pacific CALL, a new association, which is using Moodle in its Interactive Zone.

Best regards,
Don Hinkelman
