I mentioned this on one of the lists a while back and have now got around to putting together a release of the tool which I built to help convert WebCT courses to Moodle so that they can be easily imported. You'll find it on http://www.autotrain.org/misc/source/moodle/, along with one or two other bits and bobs (rough API and a few misc patches) that may be of use. The converter works by taking the output of the WebCT IMS export tool and converting it into a Moodle backup file.
This tool comes with a major health warning :
1 : It has a lot of hardcoded stuff
2 : It only works for course content and glossaries
3 : It makes a lot of assumptions about the structure of the IMS file which may not be entirely compatible with the official standard.
4 : It's only been tested with IMS files from WebCT 3.6.
I know a lot of people who will find that useful!
it sounds VERY exciting, Tim. Great job!!
And your site (http://www.autotrain.org/misc/source/moodle/) seems to be very interesting too...
(although I'm having intermittent problems with it right now )
I really like what you have done with the My Courses stuff on your site. I can see how colleges would be able to use this for auto enrollment (think Blackboard has a similar feature), and people offering paid courses might be able to integrate a payment mechanism (PayPal, CC etc.). What a great feature if it could be integrated with Moodle.
Fantastic news on the WebCT course migration feature. You are the kind of person who defines open source, and I believe can take Moodle to even greater heights.
