I want to have a CVS for 1.6.latest, so I can compare my running version of 1.6.something with the everyday changing 1.6.1 1.6.2 1.6.3: My wish is to have the latest, so soon 1.6.3 as head of this branch.
I also wonder how Moodle.org is helping all these other contributions people use as plugins, patches, blocks and modules on the point of stylesheet support for 508, and more important security repair: are there some guidelines. (it would worry me that the brand-name of Moodle could be crippled by newspaper messages about cracked Moodlesites, cuased by one of these additions.
Does moodle.com offer a payed service for checking people's additions on these and other points?
To give a normal admin problem:
My Excel dump under IE of the gradebook of 1.6 was not working, first I tried all my tricks from previous releases with less success...
So I added gradebook version 2 on top of it... and it works and I got the direct grading as a bonus.. But what now?
We should probably announce a date for the branching in advance to give people a chance to bring their contrib files in order before the branch, saving them from having to do too many merges afterwards.
One thing I will ask Martin to do is to extend his scripts so that they create nightly zip files also from the 1.5 and 1.6 branches in contrib and to extend the database of Moodle modules to allow download links to these zip files.
I propose that both a 1.5 and 1.6 branch should be created. Initially they start out identically but it will allow contributors to create versions tailored to each of these Moodle versions. We currently have a reason to do just such a thing in the CMS plugin.
Bit of a pain checking out contrib then having a look at individul modules just to find out they no longer work in a newer version of Moodle.
I'll plan the contrib branching for October 27th, so get your contrib code sorted by then.
Thank you Martin.
Just to make sure I understand correctly: before October 27 we should get our old code sorted, but we should wait with committing any code that works only with Moodle 1.7 until after October 27. On October 27 you will create branches for Moodle 1.5 and 1.6 and 1.7. The HEAD branch will be for 1.8. Is that correct?
