I'm about to start looking under the carpet to see what do we need to do to adapt the upcomming new wiki to the 1.7 roles (we have xml database under control

This is a good question. Probably a lot of maintainers of non-standard modules would like to hear an answer. Perhaps some brief instructions/examples of how to convert from student/teacher/admin references in the code to the new roles system would be helpful? And what needs to changed in the database? And must these changes be made or will the old roles still apply if the changes aren't made?
Anyway if nobody can answer we'll find out and report back here.
