Multi-file assignments - close but no cigar!

Hi all,
We have been looking for an assignement module that will allow students to easily upload a number of multiple files as an assignment, eg a web page and associated graphics and sub-pages.

There are a number of these but they all have (in our school anyway) a fatal flaw, you have to upload each file separatley - Browse - Select - Upload - Repeat 20 to 30 times!

Is there no way one of these can be modified to allow either, multiple files to be selected in one go and uploaded or a zip file uploaded and then expanded before submitting?

Students can save all files in one folder, zip the folder and then upload the zipped folder.  Then the teacher can just double click the zipped folder to unzip it and have each student's files in one stop.  Makes grading much simpler as well.

Doesn't work for web pages unless the teacher downloads the zip file to their local computer and then unzips it, otherwise all the links are broken.
Although we have had success with running web pages from within a RAR file, but none at all from within a ZIP file

If unziping  a zipfile in a moddata subfolder does no work (why? it should if all links are relative), then neither would do uploading each file separately or as multifile: the end state must be the same either you upload each single file separately or bundled as a zip.

This is not exactly the same (specially if your are teaching HTML development), but you may consider to use a wiki to construct the website, and then have an online assignment where the students put an small descriptive text and a link to their wiki.

The files do NOT unzip in the moddata subfolder, the assignment modules do not seem to have this facility, if they did it would be fine. WHat happens is that the teacher clicks on the zip file, their OS unzips it and displays it in the zip folder - links don't work (for some reason they do for a RAR folder but that is too expensive for us to rollout). If the teacher unzips to a local directory on their pC the links do work.
The issue is that the assignment module won't unzip the folder into the moodle directory, as is done in the 'Files' section.
Thanks for the idea about the wiki will look at that.
