It sounds like a job for the feedback module which is not part of standard Moodle; however, it should accomplish exactly what you are describing. You would post a statement in English as the question. Each student would submit a translation. You would view the report of submissions and see all of the translations and be able to review them with the students. You could also go in and individually view which student provided which translation. Unfortunately, the feedback module is not part of standard Moodle yet. I am hoping that Andreas (the developer of feedback module) and Mike (the developer of the questionnaire module) will continue to work together to give all of us the best of both words. They have both done great work. Peace.

p.s. I know one of our teachers has developed a number of online resources that he is using to teach Latin. Perhaps we should start a Moodle for Latin Teachers forum among the Moodle for Foreign Language Teachers area.
