I'm looking for advice. I've had a problem where I needed to recover a moodle by restoring courses as I didn't have a MySQL backup. It was mostly possible but there were some configuration bits that needed reapplying. (see last paragraph!)
Two main issues remain:-
Passwords - I assume as users are restored their password is also. If they exist as users in more than one backup file, one which is older than the other, and the user changed passwords between the two backups, I presume the last backup restored will overwrite the previous password? i.e. there's no time stored with the user when they change passwords to preserve the latest?
id numbers for courses and resources - These are presumably all different now as I didn't now what the previous course ids were. This means that any URL's pointing to precise locations will be broken? Is there anyway other than a MySQL backup to prevent this happening? Iguess this is a common problem for any Internet site that uses incrmenting ids in a database driven site.
Incidentally has Moodle.org been reinstalled without the configuration of the HTML editor spell checker? I don't see the button here?
