How do I easily add fields like state, age, ect during user sign up? I really need to add this fast...
You are asking a whole lot of this community (could you consider giving something back by mentioning that your site uses Moodle?) and most of this stuff you seem to want pretty fast .
I don't really know how urgent this is, but in case of emergency (pun intended) you could always reuse some of the existing fields from the user sign up screen that you don't need (institution, the different messenger fields, etc...). Just rename them in your language file (en_utf8) to something you want.
If you have more time you can of course add extra fields to the mdl_user table and add extra fields to the form in user/edit.html but then you have to adapt the backup/restore code as well. So I would go for the easy way and just reuse exisiting fields for something else.
Your answer was very helpful and couldnt of come any faster!
However, as far as your comment on me asking a whole lot of this community. I think you may need to take a deep breath. I have asked 5 questions in total.. That may be demanding for you however I assure you I am not asking a lot. Then again you only answered one of my questions..
Here is where I mention moodle since you are so fast to pick..
Take care and again thanks for ALL of your help
Sorry I couldn't answer all of your questions. The ready made glossaries that I have for download are all in Dutch. I don't use code to prevent people closing our school website so I would also have to search the internet for it and then find out where exactly to put it in Moodle code. AFAIK the rest of your questions were already answered by other helpful moodlers, but if it is on a subject I know something about, I do try to answer most of people's questions.
You said I could change the some fields like aim and making it what i want. But when a user goes to sign up the only options i see them able to fill are
So from there do i just borrow say the AIM field, then rename Aim to say Department so it will look like this
So do you think this would work? I wanted to make sure this is required but im not sure how to do that either
