Restore from Moodle 1.1 -> 1.5?

Restore from Moodle 1.1 -> 1.5?

I am trying to restore a course from Moodle 1.1.1, and tried to import it into a 1.5.3 I have on my laptop, running with an xampp installation. This did not work, no surprise.
Error:
  • "Creating new course
    • Pedagogical design of Virtual Learning Environments copy 2 (PD04_2)
    • Category: Diverse
  • Creating sections
Error creating sections in the existing course.
An error has occurred and the restore could not be completed!"

Then I downloaded version 1.3.5 with cvs to a server (my laptop is on an intranet so I cannot connect to cvs from it), and downloaded it to my xampp installation. Here one thing is that the blocks do not get shown in the 1.3.5 moodle installation. Hmm.. Maybe there is a problem with the versions of apache, php or mysql?
ApacheFriends XAMPP Lite version 1.5.1
 + Apache 2.2.0
  + MySQL 5.0.18
  + PHP 5.1.1 + PEAR (basis package)

When I tried to restore the 1.1.1 course into the 1.3, back it up and restore into 1.5.3, it does not complain, but when selecting what to include, it says there are no course files, and the forums messages are not in place, allthough for example I can see the news forum messages on the course page in the news block.

Should I install an earlier version,  for example 1.2, or would a 1.4 be better, with the combination of apache, mysql and php in xampp?

Kind regards, Ian
