Moodle - Most sophisticated open source application!

I just read an interesting article (Open Source Vision) in the the July 2006 issue of Campus Technology.  I've included a quote from the article regarding Moodle.  I also put it in the Moodle Buzz.

"Of all the open source applications on the market today, Moodle is perhaps the most sophisticated. The application has a large and diverse user community with more than 100,000 registered users speaking more than 700 languages, spread across 150 countries. Here in the US, a big Moodle adopter is Humboldt State University (CA), where Michael Penney, learning management systems project manager, says the school has built a brand-new course management system around it. Another big user: the University of Portland (OR), where a Moodle application dubbed Learning@UP is enabling professors to teach in new and exciting ways, including holding additional discussion sections online."

I'm thinking this is good.  We want to be sophisticated, right? sonrisa

surprise  DOOOHHH!  I didn't even notice that.  Big difference between 70 and 700.  I guess an extra zero is better than missing a zero parpadeo  I'll have to check the printed article and see if it's right.

Now that's a sophisticated comment -- I had to follow that link and search for the word "complicated" to see what you meant. sonrisota!

I do not really know what "sophisticated" is...

http://www.answers.com/sophisticated
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=sophisticated
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=define+sophisticated

Anyway, I am a native Spanish speaker, so I do not worry too much about it.

What I do know is that Moodle means for me: it is the perfect e-learning software with the best design criteria: "simple and powerful".

Regarding Moodle statistics, I think that the total number of users is right now 4,692,106 users worldwide (though I do not know exactly how those statistics are calculated).
