Looking at the online Demo, I'm trying to find where a teacher would easily post homework assignments, such as "Read chapter 2."
Nothing to submit, just a simple... "Here's your reading assignment for the 9th of May."
The assignments module appears to be for submitting, grading, ect., which is way beyond the scope of my needs.
If a student has been ill for a week, how could that student simply log on and see what reading assignments she has missed for the past week (or month)?
There is an even easier way that does not require a student to click on anything.
- each topic/week has a header area for typing a title or note
- click "Turn Editing On"
- click on the small edit icon near the week/topic title
- type your homework assignment for that week/topic & save
Another simpler way would be to add a file resource.
Im looking to for somewhere simple that a teacher can login, write a few paragraphs describing the homework task. When finished the Students visit that page and there should be a browse/upload box at the bottom of the task allowing for the student to upload their completed homework document. When a students work is submitted via the upload form a automatic email to the teacher who created the homework-task would be a good idea. Is there anything like this is development?
I have setup Moodle for two schools now, however my current School only wants to use Moodle for the above mentioned (homework). Thanks for your time and help,
I am a bit confused. Your description here sounds exactly like the assignment 'upload a single file'. And there is a dropdown box to indicate that you want an email each time a student turns in a file.
Is there some reason why the assignments will not function as you require?
An assignment for single or multiple file upload should work. Just put the directions in the "Description" field...you can even link from within that field to other resources if needed. The file upload field will be below the directions. This keeps everything neat and in one place--easy for students to find everything.
