In the session configuration I only see this, I can't put automatic attendance by students.

What version of moodle and plugin? Do you have it set to Allow student to check own attendance at the site level? (SiteAdmin/plugins/attendance)

I have version of moodle 4.0.1 and plugin 4.0.3.
Of course I have it set to Allow student to check own attendance
