How can I setup a weighted grading scheme?

Hi Moodlers

Can I please have some suggestions on how to do a weighted grading system?

My course assessment has a number of components:

a) 14 chapter tests - 2% each (total 28%)

b) 10% for attendance, class discussion and completion of practical activities in class. (I use assignment format - offline, and input a score (1-10).

c) 25% for a final exam (quiz format)

d) 5% for forum participation (assignment format - offline, manual entry of score 1-5)

e) Set tasks - 4 tasks @ 2% each. (total 8%)

f) Assignments - 6 worth 4% each (total 24%)

The problem is that sections a) e) and f) are marked out of 100 but need to be weighted appropriately for the final grade. The raw score needs to be entered and then generate a weighted score.

eg: If Jack gets a raw score of 75% for Chapter 1 test, the weighted grade will be 1.5 marks.  (75% of the 2 marks)  Currently, I can only enter 0, 1 or 2 if I set the test as an assignment with 2 marks.

I'm using Moodle 1.4.3 currently but I'm keen to upgrade to 1.6 as soons as it comes out of the beta testing stage.

Any suggestions on how to implement such a weighted grading system?

thanks
Daryl
