New type of submission: web link

New type of submission: web link

Since the origin thread (with the same name)is locked, I've created a new one on the same topic.

Similar to the origin thread, we would like to create an Assignment where the students can submit a URL instead of a file or a OneNote Page (Some context: We ask the students to do their data analysis task in a GitHub repo and want to collect the URL to that repo). Currently, we collect the URL via the Database activity (which supports URLs), but this has some restrictions (e.g. submissions do not respect Moodle Groups).

In the original thread from 2003, this feature was announced to be implemented soon. What is the status of this?

> AFAIK, in the near future (1.2?) assignments will have a new type, online assignment, which will be based on the current jurnal module. Then, students will be able to type a web link as their submission and, if they choose "Moodle auto-format", the url will automatically be turned into a hyperlink.

> Edit: I think this new type of assignment might appear in Moodle 2.0 (together with blogs), but to be sure you'd have to ask Martin.

Cheers!

Nils

If you want students to submit a URL then simply select "online text" as the submission type when setting up the assignment and tell them to paste their URL into there.
