The Global Search facility already offers a good course-specific search tool. I integrated it using the Generico filter plugin. I have attached the Generico template, which you can use by adding the text string {GENERICO:type=coursesearch} to a label resource at the top of your course. This inserts a search box where students can enter a word or string and see a list of all occurrences of that text in this course only.
