Text editors

I'm creating a rather long webpage so i am creating a list of links to anchors, the anchors are placed through out the webpage. So i went through and created all the anchors i needed, then i created a list of words that are going to become links to the anchors. I went to make the very first word of the list a link when i went to click the list of anchors there were several duplicates and none of them seemed to work. So how do you delete anchors that you have created?
