We've upgraded to 4.0 from 3.11.6 but after login, the site home shows an error and nothing else.
Hello Mark
What is the error please? That may help the community assist you.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly Kamal! I was getting errors just trying to post to the forums yesterday and it only took a bit of my discussion question. We were able to upgrade to 4 without errors (using git), it lets us login and the dashboard seems ok, but when we click on Site Home, the menu on the left is fine, but the main part of the page just displays the error message:
Exception - Call to undefined method moodle_page::set_secondary_navigation()
I can send a screenshot tonight but I reverted to 3.11 yesterday.

Maybe switching to the Boost theme would help if you are using a third party theme currently?
Most themes are causing issues with Moodle 4.0 especially those that modify the appearance /layout of Moodle to a great extent.

Even we are facing the same problem. Our theme too broke after upgrade. I am using Academi theme on our Moodle site.
Major problem is Site Administration accept first tab all other tabs (options) are missing. Shared a screenshot.
You could switch to the Boost theme till an update is released for your commercial theme which I believe would take a while as it would require quite a lot of changes to adapt to Moodle 4.0
