Firstly, yes, this report isn't entirely scalable. We'd need to go in and manually find the new module numbers and add them in. However I do prefer this to any of the previous solutions I've investigated, but I'm open to hearing if there's any better ones.

Secondly, I'm not an sql expert by any means, but I do believe that the PIVOT function is supposed to aggregate items, such as the sum or count of certain values (as opposed to this, which is just listing one value, if that makes sense)

And finally, we could definitely pivot using Power BI or Excel, that would work. But this report also has the benefit of being readable if one of our instructors needs to go in and check on anything. Ultimately though I think the question of which approach is better would vary. Maybe exporting a list of module completions separately and manipulating it in your end software would work better for you.
