Performance issue on mod assign grading using separate groups

Moodle 3.9.10 - PostgreSQL

We are noticing that performance is still an issue when navigating to mod assign action grading ("View all submissions") using separate groups.

Moodle gets really slow when trying to view the submissions page (100 students per page) in a course with 1465 participants and 90 groups. Assignment with 12 separate groups.

Related tracker issues:
https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-65797 (marked as fixed on 3.8, but sill an issue on 3.9 )
https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-67742

Can someone please confirm that the problem persists on Moodle?

Thank you,
susana

Can you define "slow". One person's slow is another's ok.

I would expect that page to take a while to generate in a course with over 1,000 participants.

Hi Howard,

Thank you for asking.

It takes 14 seconds with 10 users per page and 2 minutes with 100 users per page. A little too much, right? smile
Page loads much faster if we choose a single group name on "Separate groups"  instead of "All participants" and if we filter users by something.

We get tickets from teachers (from courses with this amount of participants) complaining that moodle is running slow... We try to explain that the problem is related to that specific view and we tell them about the tricks I mention above but we have to admit that it is something not practical and a bit inconvenient.

Thank you.
Best,
susana
