I've gone back to using the old certificate plugin, which is 5 years out of date but still works ok.
I've only just found an issue on it after years of using, which I'll post on there also.
The expiration date is from when the certificate is issued not the course date, no one even noticed until some one didn't get his certificate until 6 months after the course and the expiry date is a year away.
