Attendance Points

Attendance Points

I have a course that includes 110 points for Attendance and Participation. I normally assign points as follows:

0 = absent

1 = Present

2 = Present & Participated

How can I set up to take attendance and assign points for whether they were active participants or not? I plan to take attendance manually myself.

Hi Rebecca,

This is a good idea to get students to participate instead of just sitting in.

The idea I have is to make use of Moodle's rubric system and it will or should make it easier. The only issue, is that it is used in the Moodle assignment activity, so you need to work around that creatively.

Alternatively you can look at the scales system in Moodle as well, you can set it up as you want.

Hi Rebecca,

Have you tried the Attendance (3rd party) module for this? https://moodle.org/plugins/mod_attendance

I did look at that, but cannot figure out how to give points based on participation.

Well, it should be possible to edit the columns / fields you use to record attendance, and the point values you award when a student's attendance is marked as Present & Participated
