I'm working on a course where students are required to apply (using a separate internal process) and be approved by their supervisor prior to enrolling, with that approval being good for 2 years before they have to re-apply. The course is in a single category, and is offered several times throughout the year. I'd like to find a way to "pre-approve" students for enrollment in the course - basically, somehow flag them so that at any time before their approval expires they can self-enroll in the course when it is available.
In searching the forums, the best idea I've seen is to have an enrollment key that is the same for all courses in a given year, and send out a new key at the beginning of every year. I don't mind that, but I feel like I'd wind up spending more time than I want answering questions from students about what the key is because they lost the email from 9 months ago.
Does anyone have suggestions on a better way to approach this? Thanks in advance!
