Simply put, if your Moodle site looks for things in Wordpress code, it is definitely not coming from Moodle code! The connection to traffic and the upgrade as a cause both could also be a red herrings. The problem exists longer but you haven't noticed. You have more than one Moodle site, each on its own public IP address. But from the logs you've sent, they are routed to (different?) local IP addresses. Incidentally your campus homepage resolves to yet another public IP address which serves Wordpress.
