I am seeking advice on recommendations on using version 3.11 or 3.11+ in production.
A bit of background and info ... we are a small liberal arts university in Texas, USA with a team of about one full time person - myself [Instructional Technologist] + as needed one of our server support staff. We host Moodle in-house on Linux, do what I call directory "swap" upgrades/updates - that is no in-place upgrade of current code. We have been using Moodle for several years with no unplanned downtime except when the power goes out - as in the winter storm in Texas this past February - and when we ran out of disk space for moodledata. We have always used the latest - or second to latest - official update in production, we do our upgrades once a year in the summer, and do not have any automatic updates of anything enabled. We are currently running 3.8.3 and will be doing our update this year on July 15.
On the latest release page for 3.11+ is noted - "It contains a number of fixes made since the 3.11 release and is usually a better choice for production than the actual 3.11 package below"
If you have any recommendations you could share about which version you are using in production or considering for your upgrades, those would be most appreciated. FYI - my email is email@example.com
