I'm running Moodle 3.11+. I've been working on a Moodle site that I'm running on http://localhost. I wish to make a test site where I can do major changes and not mess up anything on the main Moodle site. Moodle has been running on the Windows installer with Apache and MySQL already built in.
I've been researching relentlessly on how to make this test site happen. I downloaded another Windows installer for Moodle and placed it in a new folder which I called "moodletest", so it has all the necessary files and the Start/Stop Moodle buttons. I went into config.php in the test folder and renamed the wwwroot to http://localhost/moodletest and changed the table prefix to mdl_2_. However... when I start Moodle from this test site and go to that url I chose, it gives me "Error 404: The requested URL was not found on this server". I searched more and found that it's probably an issue that my main Moodle site has the url of http://localhost. So, I changed the main Moodle site url to http://localhost/moodle. THEN, I got the same Error 404 for this site. Yikes, both of them got that error.
What else do I need to change in order to make the test site happen? Are there other settings I need to adjust in order to change the main site's url from http://localhost to http://localhost/moodle? Do I need to run search and replace?
