I've been trying to work out a way to provide users with a link to jump to a specific section of a course - that's the easy bit, as I can just reference #section-x in the url. Unfortunately, if the section is closed this isn't a great user experience - what I really need is to have the section open and displaying from the top of the screen if you click the link, which could be on the same course or somewhere completely different (eg if you need help with X look at this information).
I've inspected the source coding and looked at various approached tried on other websites, but haven't quite got the solution. I thought I was on to something by making the link text into a button, but although this changed the link to a clickable button it didn't jump to the section or open it. I've probably missed something obvious, but there are so many variables it's like combing spaghetti. Does anyone have a suggestion on getting this to work?
