Searchable repository over more Moodle instances & user friendly & searchable repository

Hi,

We are planning a comprehensive material database for several Moodle instances (from several organizations), which are, however, installed on one server. How can we create a comprehensive material database there?

Could this work with Moodle's Server Files function, or does it only work through a Moodle instance?

An alternative would be, for example, to integrate the collection on Nextcloud and then in each instance as a repository? Do you think that works?

Another additional question: Is there a (simple) possibility or plug-in from your point of view to comfortably search the material database for course instructors and also to enrich the materials with metadata?

I am grateful to you for tips, workarounds or plug-in recommendations that can do this

Hoping this repost makes it more readable  (i.e. no scrolling required). Note this is not an area I know anything about.

Hi Georg

One needs to know what types of files are in this material collection. If they are simple static content like PDF, office documents or even audio and video files, the https://docs.moodle.org/en/File_system_repository is a simple solution, provided that the Moodle instances are all in one server. I haven't tried, but the https://docs.moodle.org/en/Nextcloud_repository also sounds a good solution, especially if the repository is not in the same computer. There are other solutions like LTI, see https://docs.moodle.org/en/LTI_and_Moodle.

No idea of seachability. May be one can use the tag https://docs.moodle.org/en/Tags function.

P.S. Saw that you've asked the same question in the German forum: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=423467#p1706030. Consider posting a link there to this discussion to avoid duplicating the effort.

You haven't mentioned the types of files or material. Otherwise there are more interactive content creation formats like SCORM and H5P. Visit the corresponding forums https://moodle.org/mod/forum/view.php?id=1951 (SCORM) viz. https://moodle.org/mod/forum/view.php?id=8603 (H5P).
