Including external images in Moodle pages

Including external images in Moodle pages

I would like to have students easily include/link to external images in forum or glossary postings or any other area where they are able to use HTMLArea editor.

It seemed to me the easiest way would be to drag/drop or copy/paste the image into the editor from another browser window. But whenever I try this the editor rewrites the root domain of the image to the moodle site domain (e.g. becomes ).

Is this a bug or some sort of security feature?

I realise there are other ways to get images into the editor, but they add a degree of complication beyond some of our basic users and I'm doing a demo for some primary school teachers who have seen drag/drop work with another LMS.

Cheers
