The short answer is, there is no formula to do calculate the hard- and software requirements. Of course there is more to it. You could start with reading the very similar discussions in that forum always referring to the forum FAQ and the recommendations linked to the header of the forum.

Once you've gone through them you can always come back to this thread providing us the additional information you've found. In the meantime you might want to request the forum moderator to split your sub-thread and move it to the Hardware and performance forum.
