Improving Scales (scales to numeric value)

Improving Scales (scales to numeric value)

In the lead-up to Moodle 2, there was quite a bit of discussion on the question of improving scales. Specifically, many users are looking for a way to map scale values to arbitrary numeric values, which would give greater flexibility and transparency to scale aggregation.

Major discussions included:

Then, around 2011, all discussion seems to have stopped. Does anyone know the reason?

This functionality would be a huge boost for our users, so we are eager to support development however we can. Thanks in advance for any info!

I agree!! Would LOVE to either set the point values to scale items individually. Or at the very least, set a floor for the scale as a whole so that the individual scale items would scale from 100 - the floor setting.

Hi -- agreed, this is a big problem for us at my University and we would love a solve. Right now our faculty have to type in mid-point grades so that our Uni system (which pulls from Moodle Gradebook) can read it correctly. Our faculty are notorious for getting the mid-point numbers wrong, so if we had a set drop-down scale which equaled those mid-points for calculations our data would be so much reliable!
