multiple choice quiz check reveals 2 results, but only want the correct answer to show

Hello Community,

Created a simple 5 question, multiple choice quiz using the H5P question set. Moodle 10.3.2, Boost theme.

When testing the quiz setup, two response results appear for this question, but we only want one response to appear at a time.

This only happens with this question.

The behavioural settings are exactly the same for all questions.

Any thoughts about why this is happening? Suggested fixes?

Thanks,

In your question's Behavioural settings you wrongly selected Multiple Choice (Checkboxes) instead of Single Choice (Radio buttons).

It would have helped us find this out if you had posted a screenshot of the state of that question before clicking the choices, as below.

Hello and thank you for your response.

Checked the question's behavioural settings, it is Automatic, not Multiple Choice (checkboxes) as you suggested; see below.

...which results in the answer options appearing single radio button style, as below, as you suggested making the change (which we didn't do), would resolve; below is a screenprint of the question before testing it, as you requested:

So, will now change Automatic to single radio button and see if resolves.

Also, as mentioned in our original post, all questions are set the same, so therefore, shouldn't the same experience happen (duplicate responses revealed), with all the questions, when testing each question/answer? and not just experience seeing multiple responses when checking only one question (question 3)?

Thanks,

Update: changed the setting to Single Choice (radio button), same result/problem occurred: when checking one's answer, 2 responses, instead of only one, appear; see screen prints.

Again, this only happened with this one question.

Another update: figured it out...the Sorry, wrong answer, try again was entered (incorrectly) in the Message displayed if answer is not selected field, instead of only in the Message displayed if answer is selected field.

Glad that you found out the source of the problem.wink

Actually it's easy to see how you got misled by that H5P Multichoice feedback interface. Usually, MCQ questions (such as the MCQ question type in Moodle) provide for a single feedback message for each possible answer, whether correct or incorrect.

  • Correct answer selected -> feedback for correct answer
  • Incorrect answer(s) selected -> feedback for incorrect answer(s)

I fail to see the point of having 2 different feedback messages for each answer in this H5P activity.thoughtful
