I'm administrating a moodle platform that was poorly designed.
The way it worked before showed repeated questions to students, and now at least I was able to low the chances of a question to be shown twice to the same student.
I'll explain the problem briefly:
I have a bank of 20 questions, the system is supposed to show 5 random questions to students (there should be 25 questions to be able to use 5 random questions that have 0 chances of being repeated, but I don't have that amount).
The old administrator just did 5 questions from the same 20, which is the worse that what I thought (once it was explained to me by my boss how it works now and has worked for years now, I said "we might have a problem here"):
I divided the 20 questions in 5 groups of 4 (where the intersection between each bank is empty) and was expecting it to work great, but it didn't, since each random question requires at least a bank of 5 questions.
so 4 banks of 5 questions where the intersection of those is empty and one bank of the 20 questions seems a little better since the probability of getting the same question twice is now lower, I still don't like it one bit.
Can I lower the minimum of questions to 4 in the configuration? I wasn't able to find it yet.
Another option would be to use the same bank but to remove the question that was asked every time a question is made, but of course this seems unnecessary since the problem would be solved being able to tweek that.
Thanks a lot!
