Hi Jackie - If I may chip in and reflect on my own experience as a site admin of a large Moodle site, users who have a system-level role as a teacher (or manager) sometimes get confused about why they can't experience a course as a student would. This confusion is more likely to arise if they're not a regular user of the Moodle site. On the other hand, if they use the site regularly they might remember that they have a high-level role across the site, and what the privileges and drawbacks are of having this level of access.
I agree with Mary about asking high-level users to use a completely different account for student rights, and perhaps they could use a slightly different name on their account profile just so they know this is their student account, eg, John Doe (student). If they need an account with student rights simply to test things out and not actually be a student, the profile name could explicitly identify this as a test account, eg, John Test Account.
