I appreciate this is a slightly stale thread but my colleagues and I are investigating moving the moodledata directory over to GlusterFS and we are experiencing extremely poor performance. In particular we are encountering apache 504 errors on large pages with lots of images (in spite of a fair amount of PHP-FPM tuning). Did you experience any performance issues moving your moodledata directory over to GlusterFS? Note we are benchmarking using file caching (I appreciate Redis will make a difference) and, as I say, the difference in performance between using having moodledata on the local disk and moodledata in GlusterFS is marked.
