Custom scale always starts at zero

Custom scale always starts at zero

On Moodle 3.9.4 I am using an Activity plugin that allows for custom scales. Regardless of the scale; text, number, stars, this translates into a number score with the first number always zero.

For example if the scale is; Bad, Very bad, Good, Very good, this will be 0, 1, 2, 3. If the scale is 1, 2, 3, 4, if "1" is selected it will appear as zero.

This could be due to the plugin but I wanted to check if anyone knew what the default was in Moodle for handling scales and if this can be changed, so that a scale that is 1,2,3,4 means 1 is 1, not zero.

Any insights welcome.

I thought it was 0 = not yet graded?

When I created a scale that only said: not passed, passed... the 'grade to pass' needed to be set to 2.

It was 0 = no grade, 1 = not passed, 2 = passed.

Please note that calculations like this are impossible if you use rubrics. Rubrics do not respect your grade to pass setting.

Thank you. That is helpful. I think this means this is not handled in the plugin being used, but if I follow the same method it should work for me.

i.e. No grade, Bad, Very bad, Good, Very Good ....or whatever it is.

Thanks!
