I think one of the main benefits of clean URLs is for better SEO. But I'm not interested in the SEO of my 'behind a login' Moodle course content.
The other benefit of clean URLs is for users to better understand the page they are on. If they can't do that from the on-page UI/UX - they're doomed if they are resorting to the URL for this.
My final objection is selfish... I like navigating around my content based on changing ID values in the URL
