I am unable to edit any roles in the define role section it throughs out HTTP ERROR 500 can't seem to find any workaround for this need help

Not really a question about Moodle development (so may be more appropriate in the general help forum), but I would suggest that you check your server error logs to see if there is an error message. If not, turn on Debugging and try again - you should get a more helpful message (either on screen or in the server logs).
