I have a new cohort that I want to assign to many courses.
Is there a simple way of doing this?
I saw some unhelpful posts from about 5 years ago but hope that Moodle has progressed since then.

Unfortunately, there isn't a good tool available yet for setting up cohort sync enrolment in bulk. This has to be done per course, AFAIK.

There is a plugin which does this actually - you can upload a CSV to sync cohorts to a list of courses https://moodle.org/plugins/tool_uploadenrolmentmethods
